All shamans gain their power from the Elemental Spirits. Most of the shamanic philosophies are the same to all who practices it. It was once believed that the rigid disciplines of the Holy Light were incompatible with shamanism. This was proved false when the Draenei have both followers of the Light and also followers of the Spirits. This proves that the two are not that different. Shamans gain access to their power through contract, not bargain. For this reason shamans are known to use ‘calls’ instead of ‘spells’ since is power they ask for, not take.
The power of the shamans requires the aid of the Elements. There are five elements, or Spirits: Earth, Fire, Water, the Wilds and Air (or Wind). In a simple stage, the elements can cause earthquakes, summon storms, create fire or find water. At their most complex, they are the world we live in.
The Spirit of the Wilds is the most complex and least understood of them all. This element is tied to life. These are the things that grow when the other elements are at harmony. This Spirit, in theory, is capable of restoring the dead to full life, but no true shaman would ever call upon the Spirit for that. To violate the boundaries between life and death goes against the very teachings of the Spirits.
